Youth Livestock Shows

NOMINATION PORTAL

FairEntry will be used to collect animal information for all youth livestock requiring nomination in order to be eligible for the 2023 State Fair of VA Youth Livestock Shows. This includes the following species: Beef Cattle, Meat Goats, Sheep, and Swine shown by 4-H and FFA Youth at the State Fair of Virginia, September 28th to October 1st, 2023.

The following categories/divisions of livestock require nomination:

Market Beef (Steers and Heifers) Registered and Crossbred - No limit on number nominated

Commercial-Crossbred Heifers - Limit of 6 head nominated per exhibitor

Market Goats/Commercial Does - Limit of 12 head total nominated per exhibitor

Market Lambs/Commercial Ewes - Limit of 12 head total nominated per exhibitor

Market Hogs (Crossbred and Registered) - Limit of 12 HOGS total nominated/exhibitor

Commercial Breeding Gilts (non-registered) - Limit of 12 HOGS total nominated/exhibitor

Prior to using this system and entering information, you must have already ordered AND received your DNA Sample Envelopes and required tags using this link:

Once you have received your DNA Envelopes and tags (if you ordered tags):

1. Collect the Required DNA Samples from each animal.
2. Take the two required pictures of each animal
   1. Head Shot clearly showing the RFID/Scrapie Tag
   2. Side View/Profile that includes the exhibitor in the picture
3. Complete your paper Nomination Form
4. Use all of that information to "Nominate Each Individual Animal" in this FairEntry Nomination System
5. Mail your DNA Samples and Nomination Forms to:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO REMEMBER:

• Nomination and Entry are two separate processes - THIS IS THE NOMINATION PROCESS. The Entry System in which ALL ANIMALS coming to the Fair must be entered will open on July 10th.
• All children/youth/exhibitors from one family must be entered on the same submission. Before hitting that final "SUBMIT" button make sure you have selected "Register Another Exhibitor" and completed information for each family member.
• Your Nominations will not be "APPROVED" until the actual DNA Samples and Nomination Forms have been received by the Youth Animal Science Office and verified to match the information in the Nomination System.
• All animals for each exhibitor requiring Nomination must be submitted at the same time.

NOMINATION SYSTEM DETAILS:

• Youth participating as 4-Hers must click the GREEN "Sign-In Using 4HOnline" Button to enter the system - DO NOT enter your email and password - Click the GREEN button first and follow the prompts from there.
• Youth participating as FFA Youth will either "Create an Account" (if they've never used FairEntry before) or enter the Email and Password associated with their existing FairEntry Account, and then click the BLUE "Sign-In" button.
• Enter and/or verify all of the required information and questions.
• Choose the species and category as appropriate
• Select "Add an Entry" for each animal you want to Nominate
• Select "Add a New Animal" and provide the information requested
• Continue those three steps until each animal you wish to nominate has been added
• REMEMBER to nominate all animals for all family members before hitting submit
